These questions can help you determine which car is right for your product.

  • What is the density of the product? Density determines cubic capacity required.
  • What is the particle size of the product? Fine-ground products may require special gates.
  • Does loading generate dust? Round hatches allow better dust control.
  • Does the material tend to stick together? Steeper slopes aid in product flow.
  • Will rain alter the product? Open top hoppers are exposed to the elements.
  • Does the customer have special unloading requirements? Gate types and sizes need to be considered.
  • Do your customers have special loading requirements? Offset, centered, or trough hatches are available.
  • Is product contamination from prior shipments a consideration? Cleaning cars delays the arrival of cars, and can cost significant amounts of money.
  • Do your customers need a specialized type of car that can't easily be used by our other customers? If so, leasing cars may be your best choice.
